About Our Laser Technology

What type of laser do you use?

Dr. Shapiro uses the Lyra-i ™ Laser with a cooling sapphire tip. This is the first laser FDA approved for all skin types.

How does the laser work for hair removal?

Laser energy is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle while your hair is in its active phase of growth. The laser light is converted into heat, causing damage to the hair follicle without harming the surrounding tissue. Hair re-growth is impeded in the damaged follicle. The sapphire tip continuously keeps your skin cool while the laser energy is absorbed below the surface.
